The Role of the University: Islamization of Contemporary Knowledge, De-Westernization, and De-Colonization

This book explains the architectural and strategic importance of higher education institutions in ensuring appropriate development for individuals and Muslim societies across the world. At a time when the forces of Westernization and colonization, in their various forms, still exert influence within the context of present-day globalization, the author argues that the efforts of certain Muslim scholars to Islamize contemporary knowledge—as well as all matters related to educational and university discourse within Islam—are not only legitimate attempts to safeguard their religious and cultural identity, but also represent the best alternative to Western modernity, or to other alternatives derived from different religions and philosophies.
